Job Designation
The Mechanical Engineering Intern supports Meggitt’s Engineering Department in its execution of engineering design changes in a timely manner and to supplement the mechanical engineering role in preventing or correcting quality defects, resolving production problems, and reducing material supply costs through increased customer-focused value analysis.
Job Core Responsibilities
• Mechanical Engineering support role for drafting primarily for existing / sustaining products including:
-Detail 3D Modeling
-Detail 2D Drafting
-Piece part design
-Assembly document updates
-Other Mechanical Design related Output items
• Drafting of Engineering Changes at the direction of Engineers
• On the job learning of Mechanical Engineering principles and Meggitt Processes
• Employ knowledge and skills learned from school in day-to-day work
• Regular contact with Mechanical Engineers, Laboratory Technicians, Electrical and Systems Engineers, and Quality Assurance team members at Meggitt Tucson’s facility
• Develop positive and professional working relationships to accomplish tasks
• Accountable to generate accurate documentation at the direction of Electrical Engineers, Airworthiness Personnel, Laboratory Technicians
• Accountable to maintain a perspective of constant learning
• Accountable to keep track of assignments and prioritize tasks at the discretion of the Engineering Manager
• Accountable to effectively manage work and school balance
• Accountable to participate in department improvement initiatives
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required
Job Specifications
Physical Requirements
• Approximately 80% sitting and 20% standing/walking about in-door Company facilities.
• Lift and Carry up to 40 lbs.
• Use head and neck in static position, looking up/down and side-to-side.
• Perform light lifting from floor, table and shelf.
• Push and pull carts or mobile tables, loaded and unloaded.
• Minimal: heavy lifting from floor or higher, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting arms above shoulders, kneeling.
• Minimal: exposure to excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, hazardous equipment, uneven walking surfaces
• Typing with computer and keyboard
Job Specifications
Work Schedule: Dependent on school schedule and school commitments. This is a year round internship - candidates should be local.
Education: Currently studying under a BSME or BSAE at a 4 year university (Studying under a postgraduate degree is also acceptable)
Certifications: None required
Years of Experience: Currently enrolled in Junior level Engineering classes (300 level) or higher level with a minimum GPA of 3.0

• Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel).
• Proficient organizational skills and the ability to prioritize according to urgency while remaining flexible to changing situations
• Proficient communication skills; both verbal and written/grammar
• Proficient analytical skills
• Self-motivated
• Must be detail oriented
• Able to manage multiple, concurrent priorities
• Proven track record of commitment to school work
• Basic 3D CAD knowledge preferred
• On the job training of engineering tools, such as IBM DOORS, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Altium will be provided.
