Job Designation

We are actively seeking a Trade Compliance Officer, to join our expanding team; the successful candidate will have management responsibility for trade compliance activities, encompassing both exports and imports, for the Meggitt Engine Systems site in Fareham (formerly Meggitt Basingstoke and Rugby sites).

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Instituting and managing an efficient and effective Trade Compliance program, consistent with the Engine Systems divisions and Meggitt Group Trade Compliance programs
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable regulations including those of the UK and US
  • Interfacing with the TCM regarding current and pending compliance regulation initiatives and legislation that may affect company business
  • Managing Licenses and Agreements with government regulators, as appropriate, subject to coordination with TCM
  • Providing an interface with TCM and site entities to provide guidance on current and future trade regulatory requirements as they relate to the SBU business plans and future products
  • Providing day-to-day Trade Compliance support for export and import activities including IPR’s processing and export transactions processing
  • Participate in various SBU initiatives such as SAP/GTS implementation, as directed by the TCM
  • Giving advisory support to ensure that all applicable products are classified for export and import in accordance with UK and US regulations, as applicable
  • Ensuring that procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements including consistent KPI’s are in place for all appropriate areas of responsibility and personnel at the manufacturing site
  • Build and maintain an internal audit program to ensure compliance with procedures according to Meggitt Quality planning and AS/EN91000 standards
  • Define and animate backup strategy for the site
  • Maintaining a Trade Compliance Training Program at the manufacturing site in keeping with SBU requirements and consistent with Meggitt Group programs. This involves developing and delivering training packages to site staff under direction of the TCM
  • Maintaining Trade Compliance recordkeeping at the manufacturing site in keeping with SBU requirements and consistent with Meggitt Group programs
  • Ensure various registrations with government agencies are kept up to date as required by regulations

Job Specifications

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • 3 years level experience in and working knowledge of all relevant export and import regulations for civil, dual-use and military products especially UK and EU regulations.
  • General knowledge of a manufacturing business, in particular in the aerospace industry
  • Experience of managing IPR processes.
  • Understanding of US ITAR and EAR regulations
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies and government audit management
  • Good understanding of international trade terms and conditions
  • Good office suite capabilities
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Coordinating and consolidating in complex projects
  • Curiosity in aerospace market and technical aspect of products

  • Knowledge of SAP and GTS is a strong asset
