Strategic business unit:
Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems provides aircraft braking systems to a diverse group of customers including airline operators, aircraft constructors, private aircraft owners and charter operators, governments and military operations and distributors and repair stations.

We are located in Akron, Danville and Gardena in the United States; Coventry in the UK plus Fresnillo and Queretaro in Mexico, with repair stations in USA, Europe and Asia.
•    We occupy lead positions in aircraft wheels, brakes and brake control systems
•    Our products are on an active fleet of over 30,000 aircraft
•    We are a significant braking system supplier to regional jets, business jets and military aircraft
•    Our capability includes helicopter rotor brakes and brake temperature monitoring


Purpose:
Provides  technical  expertise  in  the  design,  development,  testing  and  verification  of aircraft systems and subsystems.

Job Duty

  • System Requirements
    • Development of system-level requirements to meet customer specifications for multi-domain systems (e.g. hardware, software, mechanical, hydraulic)
    •  Requirement validation (e.g. traceability, simulation, analysis, review)

  • System IntegrationIncluding Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) System Integration Testing, and system requirements verification
    • Flight test support, analysis of aircraft test data and development of associated test tools (e.g. LabVIEW).

 

  • Simulation Modelling
    • Including the use of tools such as MATLAB/Simulink in order to develop simulation models of aircraft, aircraft systems and individual hydraulic and electrical components.

 

  • Control Algorithm Development
    • Assist in the development and tuning of control algorithms associated with complex control systems.

•    Participates in activities in one or more of the areas above
•    Plans, organises and controls activities to ensure on-time delivery and the quality of output.
•    Actively participates as a member of the Systems Engineering department and project team(s)
•    May be assigned as a lead systems engineer role on a project, with responsibility for delegation, supervision and approval of a systems engineering team
•    Carries out special projects as assigned.


Key skills and competencies required:

  • Degree: Preferred - Systems Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Considered – other Engineering degree, Physics degree or Maths degree if accompanied by relevant experience
  • Able to solve a range of complex problems from a systematic and analytical approach
  • Uses best practices and knowledge to improve product
  • Conducts  technical  work  including  the  following:  analysis,  trade-studies,  product  design,  testing,  system/component integration, mathematical modeling, control system design and software development.
  • Prepares documentation including the following: technical requirements, specifications, design documents, user guides, work instructions, test plans, test procedures and technical reports.
  • Plans, organizes and controls his/her activities to ensure on-time delivery and the quality of their output.
  • Actively participates as a member of their skill center and/or program development teams
  • Excellent  planning,  organizational,  analytical,  leadership,  interpersonal,  decision-making,  problem-solving,  oral  and written communication skills
  • Proactive,  energetic and self-motivated, takes the initiative, drives to complete tasks and fulfil objectives

Key skills and competencies desired:
•    Experience in Aircraft Braking Systems and/or Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems
•    Experience in aerospace engineering in safety critical system development
•    Working knowledge of Aerospace Qualification and Certification (ARP4754A, DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-160G, ARP4761, AS8584, ARP1070)
•    Experience in ARINC429 and CAN protocols
•    Experience in aircraft flight test certification programme
•    Experience working with Certification Authorities to achieve system certification to Part 25 – Airworthiness Standards.
•    Experience with MATLAB / Simulink
•    Experience working in a multi-cultural / international organization
