Job Designation

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer uses expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce weapon-related products. Designs, improves and installs integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing and supply chain environment.  Directly impacts all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, as well as the sustaining and growth efforts of operations.                                    

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Transitions prototype engineering designs into production.
•    Works with Company disciplines to achieve business goals.
•    Communicates with suppliers (as required) to promptly resolve any issues and questions.
•    Attends Design Reviews and provide Design for Manufacturability input.
•    Reviews drawings (electrical and mechanical) at all levels of product development for completeness, clarity and errors.
•    Establishes and maintains labor standards to monitor direct/indirect labor and machine performance.
•    Generates improvement projects that reduce material cost and increase efficiency.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years’ Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience; weapons experience a plus
•    Ability to provide input and expertise with basic and complex manufacturing engineering solutions

•    Ability to create workable mechanical, electrical and assembly drawings
•    Develop instructions with necessary fixtures on how to achieve drawings requirements.
•    Provide solutions to obsolescence issues via tested drop in replacements or minimal design changes
•    Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities for analyzing, evaluating and determining solutions to a variety of problems
•    Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement models
•    Ability to improve products or services by applying professional business experience and knowledge     
•    Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information and implement required changes/solutions
•    Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCad and Creo knowledge a plus
•    Research, experimental and developmental experience is a plus
