Job Designation

The Procurement Supervisor oversees the day-to-day activities of the procurement team.  Plans, coordinates, and supervises complex procurement and material planning activities from the initial proposal efforts through the delivery of the end product. Ensures that procurement procedures are in compliance with government laws (domestic/international), regulations and management objectives.
 

Job Core Responsibilities

  •  Ensures proper external procurement, sourcing and contracting of goods and services, while adhering to department procedures and business goals
  •  Oversees all buyer account negotiations, while mentoring staff in negotiation planning and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Ensures accountability and adherence to applicable government laws (domestic/international) and company policies and procedures
  •  Supervises updates of existing purchasing agreements and monitors usage and compliance
  •  Reviews and approves purchase orders within authorized limits
  •  Monitors requisitions and status of purchase orders; develops reports to track the timeliness of processing requisitions
  •  Conducts purchasing activities in conjunction with user departments to maintain optimum inventory and buy-levels
  •  Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs
  •  Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned
  •  Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  •  Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years Experience: 5 - 7 years of relevant experience
