Job Designation

Investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting internal product audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. Position will be physically located in Danville, KY but will work closely with Quality staff in Akron, OH. and support Coventry, England MABS and MABSQ as required.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the skills, aptitudes, and abilities to perform the essential duties proficiently.

    1. Liaison with Akron Quality and Purchasing personnel to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.

    2. Perform containment/sort activities or coordinate 3rd party or supplier sorts.

    3. Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement when applicable.

    4. Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste.

    5. Responsible for the supplier RMA/RTV process and improvement of the process.

    6. Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances when required.

    7. Participate in Quality Clinic.

    8. Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.

    9. Develop long‐term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.

    10. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‐Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.

    11. Drive “Built In Quality/Zero Defect ” mentality within the supply base.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
  • Additional Responsibilities:

    1. Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams.

    2. Travel to supplier locations to resolve quality problems.

    3. Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non‐conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.

    4. Identify and record any problems relating to the product process and quality system.

    5. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

    6. Verify the implementation of solutions.

    7. Perform other tasks as defined and agreed to by Supplier Quality Management in order to meet Meggitt objectives.

    8. Dotted line reports to Supplier Quality Manager with direct line daily reporting to the Director of Quality.

    9. Some travel (10-20%) required. Must have an updated passport as a result.

  • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:

    1. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

    2. Little or no exposure to hazards.

    3. Typical factory/office environment.

Job Specifications

Education : Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Quality or business related field
Certifications :
Years Experience : 
1-5 years related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ is a plus.
Skills :

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.

Strong problem solving skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Understanding of project management (experience preferred).

Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc. preferred.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision.

Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel abroad.
