Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for an Senior Stress Engineer to join our team. As the Senior Stress Engineer you will provide dedicated support to the composite design team involved in the design, development and qualification of composite aerostructures.  Working under the direction of the Mechanical Design Team Leader you’ll be responsible for  a broad range of analysis and reporting activities including the management of any sub-contracted analysis activity.

 

Core Responsibilities

Core responsibilities will also include: 

  • Stress analysis of composite components using FEA software Hyperworks and / or NASTRAN / PATRAN
  • Knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite components and report writing
  • Selection, oversight and management of external sub-contractors where required to support analysis activity
  • Technical liaison/presentations with customer to support Design Review deliverables
  • Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs
  • Provides technical support for new projects and evaluates the requirements and implications
  • Maintains project files and appropriate records of work
  • Acts as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues
  • Reduces costs and improves mechanical design and development processes, using best practices and professional knowledge
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

To be successful in this role you’ll proven industry/similar experience in the stress analysis of composite structures and have knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite components. 


You’ll also need: 

  • Stress analysis of composite components using FEA software Hyperworks and / or NASTRAN / PATRAN
  • Expereince with 3-D modeling , CAD and Solidworks
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge     
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
