Role Summary
Meggitt Fuel Systems & Composites have an exciting opportunity for a computer numerically controlled (CNC) Machine Operator to join the operations team at our Stevenage, Hertfordshire site. We are looking for a competent CNC to use machinery safely and efficiently to perform a variety of functions, whilst also ensuring the machines upkeep and any malfunctions are appropriately reported. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work on components which are already in production but also development project

Job Specifications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations is preferred.
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field
Years Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience
Skills:

•Skilled in the set up and operation of automatic or semiautomatic machines
•Strong math skills and high attention to detail
•Ability to understand complex instructions including schematics blueprints, schematics, models or specifications
•Able to apply an analytical approach to problem solving
•Capable of providing  solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures.
•Effective oral and written communication

Job Designation

Job Core Responsibilities
o Set-up and operate a 5-axis/6-axis CNC machines (previous 5-axis/6-axis experience is required) and prior experience to working with Siemens controller would be advantageous.
o Organising of own work vs capacity requirement to ensure efficient utilisation of the machining centre.
o Uses several sources to perform work, such as job travellers, standard operating procedures, Method of manufacture, drawings and models or specifications
o Assesses when changes or repairs need to be made to fixtures and tools
o Verifies that parts meet specifications as outlined in manufacturing documentation and provides accurate documentation relating to the assigned task performed
o Performs as a lead in mentoring new hires and level I, II colleagues and take ownership and responsibility of the machining area, ensuring machine is maintained (through preventative maintenance schedule as specified by supplier), serviced and calibrated at the appropriate intervals.
o Ability to (with the aid of supplier) solve problems that are atypical in nature
o Evaluates and audits machine shop processes for compliance with safety procedures,
o Understanding of G-code programming to enable the programming of simple programmes. Knowledge of CAM processes would be advantageous 
o Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
o Other responsibilities as assigned.
