Job Designation

The Sr. Test Engineer provides test engineering expertise while setting up and conducting complex quality testing. Ensures high quality development of Meggitt products/components.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Provides significant expertise in the creation of formal qualification test plans, procedures and reports
•    Supports all phase of a project life cycle (concept, development, test, production, in-service support)
•    Conducts complex qualification testing and provides written reports to project engineers
•    Analyze requirements, generate derived requirements, and synthesize test and instrumentation systems from requirements
•    Follow and participate in process and development methods and generate artifacts to support process flow
•    Work across functional boundaries to support systems, mechanical, electrical, and production engineering
•    Designs and develops special test rigs and advises on methods of testing
•    Collaborates with and manages 3rd party partners in all manner of test related support activities
•    Performs qualification test programs to ensure products/systems meet design specs
•    Acts as a professional resource for colleagues with less experience
•    Performs analysis and troubleshooting to determine root causes of failures
•    Other responsibilities as assigned
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
•    Responsible for the organization and operational activity of the Engineering test lab applying 6S best practice and work status visual factory.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering required
Years' Experience: 5 - 10 years of electrical engineering experience
•    Excellent test engineering knowledge to improve products by applying best practices and testing experience
•    Ability to provide significant expertise on complex testing issues and to act as a resource for colleagues
•    Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards as they impact electrical system design, function, production, and support (RTCA DO-160, various MIL standards, functional safety, Hazardous and Ordinary Location certifications)
•    Effective interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate well with others
•    Experienced with National Instruments LabView (LabView Associate Developer or LabView Developer certification highly desirable)
•    Experience with test facilities, equipment, and methods for certification of Industrial Hazardous Location equipment (EMI/EMC/ESD testing; Environmental conditions (e.g. vibration, thermal, fluid compatibility, magnetic effects, so on))
•    Experience with design, development, and validation of production test equipment
•    Ability to collect, collate, and summarize test data for artifact and archival purposes
