Job Designation

Provide technical support for application development and sustaining production engineering of components and / or assemblies. To assist manufacturing, manufacturing engineers, factory personnel, project lead engineers, and/or Operations management in determination of work scope, tasks, and budgets. To provide methods of cost reduction for production and production related activities.                             

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Apply technical skills for performance and production problem resolution of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical products and related components.

    • Serve as a technical contact with internal and external customers, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, product support, material, and suppliers insuring their satisfaction.
  • Implement performance, cost, quality and consistency improvements in products and process during and after their design phase.
  • Analyze data from returned mechanical components and implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the number of returned units.
    • Analyze data from mechanical components to implement improvements to increase the reliability of components, minimizing the assembly and test cycle time.
  • Prepare and track project budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare manufacturing / production plan for new designs, as well as existing design for which total lead-time exceeds producibility standards.
  • Accomplishment of project objectives and completion of assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop technical expertise on hydraulic and pneumatic control valves with emphasis on producibility of mechanical components.
  • Collaborate with peers and supervisor to determine key goals and objectives, and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period (usually one year). Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on timely achievement of these goals and objectives.
  • Be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate support of Meggitt lean principles; teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity.

Job Specifications

Education Level: (Required):      Bachelor's Degree           or equivalent experience                           

 (Preferred):             Master's Degree                        

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Engineering, Business, or other related field

5+ years of minimum experience with management of factory/manufacturing activities of components within the aerospace industry.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

·Proficient with Lean, Cellular, and Continuous Improvement concepts, and able to implement them to increase productivity and remove waste.

·Develop technical expertise on hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, components and assemblies with emphasis on producibility, continuous flow cells, pull and lean flow manufacturing.

·Prepare manufacturing/production plans for new designs, as well as existing design for which total lead-time exceeds Producibility standards.

·Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic assemblies that fail functional test, identify root cause and corrective action to ensure problem is contained.

  • Ability to analyze data from mechanical components to implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the assembly and test cycle time, document processes and transition operations from one plant to another when needed.
  • Ability to analyze data from mechanical components to implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the assembly and test cycle time.
  • Experience with assembly and test operations of hydraulic and mechanical valves, manifolds and actuators.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques.·
  • Familiarity/experience with continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
  • Good technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with SPC, statistical process control principles and methods
  • Ability to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication.
  • Ability to logically solve problems and to keep projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
  • Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering, a plus.
  • Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-9001.
