Job Designation

 Provide mechanical design and detailing support to project engineers. This support consists of, but is not limited to performing 3D layouts using SolidWorks Mechanical Design software and linear stress analysis using SolidWorks Simulation FEA.          

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 and similar standards, including GD&T application.
  • Construct solid models of parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.  Create, revise, and check SolidWorks drawings.
  • Prepare drawing change notices (DCNs) using Microsoft Excel.
  • Perform linear stress analysis on new designs using SolidWorks Simulation.  Perform dimensional tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Develop new designs and concepts of product components and assemblies.
  • Prepare tooling drawings supporting product testing and support.
  • Support proposal activities for new business.
  • Prepare various engineering documents using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Review and troubleshooting designs and nonconforming products for corrective action.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Specifications

  • Engineering degree (BS) from a four-year college or university and at least five years of related experience.
  • Capable mentor, able to check others' designs and able to manage / integrate packages of drawings.
  • Experience in mechanical design, linear stress analysis and drafting using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation software.  Knowledge of standard drafting practices.
  • Proven ability to be creative in the art of mechanical design.
  • Requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles.
  • Must understand basic laws of physics and possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial aerospace specifications and standards.
  • Proficiency with computers and common business and technical software.
