Job Designation

The Software Application Engineer will be responsible for enabling teams to innovate and deliver safety-critical embedded software.  As this central department provides an internal software development service, the Software Application Engineer will be involved in the software lifecycle for a wide range of airborne equipment, including fire detection and suppression; fluid quantity measurement; standby flight display; air data; health and usage monitoring and tyre pressure monitoring systems.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Performing configuration management activities
  • Working closely with software engineers to evolve the team’s ongoing strategy for SCM
  • Advanced understanding of scripting and automation
  • Optimization of builds, testing activities and deployment of workflows across multiple teams
  • Ability to plan projects and track progress
  • Process documentation and compliance monitoring
  • Meet high level software engineering standards in a timely manner

Job Specifications

Education : Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Skills:

  • Experience/knowledge of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, C Script or Perl
  • Experience using and administering configuration management tools, ideally with automation
  • Self-starter, capable of identifying technologies/tools that can be leveraged to improve efficiency of the development teams
  • Willingness to learn new tools and techniques and work in a fast paced environment
