Job Designation

Under direct supervision of either the Procurement Manager or Supply Chain Director, the Supplier Development Lead will work directly with various suppliers to resolve a wide range of complex supplier issues that are impacting customer delivery and quality ratings. The Supplier Development Lead will play a vital role in holding suppliers accountable and drive daily actions, effective RCCA, delivery schedules and provide daily report out to Supply Chain and Supplier Quality departments. The Supplier Development Lead’s first area of focus will be taking on an immediate leadership role in working with suppliers in resolving immediate issues that are impacting on time delivery for high profile customer programs.               

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Works in conjunction with quality to lead the selection, development, verification, validation, and qualification of current and new suppliers.
  • Acts as a liaison between Supply Chain, Supplier Quality and Quality Engineering departments to drive daily actions with the supplier and provide daily report out to the cross-functional departments.
  • Resolve issues that are impacting supplier on-time delivery performance.
  • Work with suppliers to develop quality and lead time improvement programs, as appropriate.
  • Experience in tooling design and the foundry process a plus
  • Experience within the technical and operational areas of the metals manufacturing in casting and machining industries a plus
  • Maintaining the supply base in balance with the needs of multiple value streams within our business, ensuring the appropriate balance of capacity and flexibility. 
  • Act as a liaison between purchasing and planning by managing critical supplier orders
  • Works closely with suppliers to develop our supplier certification/supplier excellence process.
  • Developing and publishing supplier performance reports, quarterly business reviews, and implementation supplier excellence program.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding lead times and product availability.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as assigned.
Job Specifications
  • Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow the successful performance of job expectations. Field of Study/Area of Experience: Supply chain, Purchasing, Planning experience or knowledge

 

  • Preferred: Master's Degree
