Job Designation

 The Senior Structural Analyst provides significant expertise on complex structural engineering issues and acts as a professional resource for the team. Analyses a variety of mechanical components and systems for products.  

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Provides structural analysis expertise to support development of new mechanical items or improving existing ones
•    Provides technical support for new projects and evaluates the requirements and implications
•    Maintains project files and appropriate records of work
•    Acts as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

years Experience: 5 - 10 years of relevant experience

Essential Skills:
•    Good working knowledge of Ansys Workbench for structural analysis
•    Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including reading drawings and understanding mechanisms.
•    Good working knowledge of material properties required for structural assessments (e.g. SN curves)
•    Experience completing structural analysis and associated reports to substantiate systems or structure in a safety critical industry (e.g. aerospace, transport ordefense) 
•    Ability to work remotely as part of a global team
•    Ability to manage internal customers, building trust and working relationships
Preferred Skills:
•    Experience working for a major engineering company, preferably in the aerospace or other safety critical environment
•    Experience of working on structure or systems used on aero-engines
•    Experience working on analysis of valves
•    Experience working on analysis of  heat exchangers
•    Experience using Altair Hyperworks suite, especially for analysis of composite structure
•    Additional skills in fluid dynamics, heat transfer or materials science
•    Working knowledge of explicit FEA analysis (e.g. LS-Dyna)
•    Working knowledge of fracture mechanics analysis (e.g. NASGRO)
•    Engineering application developing using MATLAB, Python and C++
•    Working knowledge of CATIA or Solidworks CAD software
