Job Designation

The Mechanical Engineer will provide significant expertise on complex mechanical engineering issues and act as a professional resource for the team. Designs and develops a variety of mechanical components and systems for products. 

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Provides extended expertise in the design, development, and testing of aircraft fire detectors, pumps, motors, and electronics packaging
  • Participates in preliminary design discussion with customers and generates technical documentation to aid in proposal activities
  • Participates in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, build prototype hardware, perform qualification testing, report writing, and transition product to production
  • Performs mechanical component development and integration, while using Computer-Aided-Design concepts
  • Performs FEA to validate design requirements using Solidworks or ANSYS
  • Provides hands-on support to resolve production issues
  • Supports root cause analysis for field and production failures and provides appropriate corrective action
  • Supports cross functional teams by resolving technical issues promptly
  • Uses existing procedures to solve a range of problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgements
  • Solves a variety of mechanical engineering issues and improves existing designs
  • Shall be able to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights/weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required) | Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)

Years Experience: min 3 years of relevant experience

Skills:

  • Nice to have FEA skills to verify new designs.
  • Demonstrated expertise with complex mechanical engineering solutions
  • Proficient with 3-D modeling, CAD, and Solidworks
  • Proficient with FEA analysis and can mentor others
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge     
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $90K-$153K
