Job Designation

The Software Engineer works in small teams to solve problems, explore new technologies and learn from one another. As this department provides a software development service to Meggitt’s businesses worldwide, roles in this team have the opportunity to work with a wide range of airborne equipment, from fire detection and suppression systems to standby flight display systems.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Capture, negotiate, decompose and derive formal software requirements. Develops software per requirements and specifications. Applies design standards and procedures to implement basic code design, software development, testing, debugging, and integration.

  • Architect, design, develop, integrate and test safety-critical software applications using model-based development tools and provides relevant documentation including technical requirements, specifications, design documents, and test plans as needed. Creates periodical status reports for key function.

  • Develop drivers for embedded devices including sensors, actuators and peripherals. Creates design documentation, Perform, track and control internal project activities and manage external sub-contractors (including offshore verification partners). Identify continuous improvement opportunities, including standardization of tools and processes  

  • Uses control concepts to meet high level software engineering standards in a timely manner. Defines and develops tools for unit testing of software components as needed.

  •  Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field

Years Experience :  0-2 years of relevant experience 
Skills :

  • Experience in embedded software design, coding and debugging, ideally using an established configuration/version management tool
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Experience with embedded C
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Ideally, knowledge of interface and communication protocols (e.g. CAN, SPI or I2C)
  • Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge of data structures and database programming
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve problems
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively    
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
