Role Summary

Parker Meggitt are excited to be able to recruit a new member of their Composites team as a Composite Fitter. As a Fitter, your roles and responsibilities will be to operate as a multi-skilled, adaptable member of the team in a wide variety of areas. Your key responsibilities will be the Fitting & Trimming of composites components and composite mould projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Fitting and Trimming of composite components and composite moulds for projects in the Aerospace industries requiring strong attention to detail, cost and quality.
  • Carrying out work in adherence to technical drawings, internal and external specifications and build instructions as appropriate ensuring accuracy and process documentation.
  • Bonding and trimming assemblies in accordance with defined standards.
  • Fettling moulds and patterns in accordance with defined standards.
  • Cutting and bonding of pattern materials in accordance with defined standards.
  • Working with manufacturing engineering to support the development of standard work instructions and taking part in design for manufacture workshops for new product introduction.
  • Identifying, defining and supporting the introduction of continuous improvement activities in the area of trimming and assembly.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively      
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Setting structures in trim and assembly jigs
  • Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with tools
  • Fettling using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Mixing and used of adhesives and sealants
  • Percussion riveting
  • Treatment touch-up in localised areas on composite
  • Ability to read drawing
