Job Designation

The Sr. Cost Accountant is responsible to support the Product Cost performance of Meggitt’s Rockmart site.  This is performed through setting inventory valuation by capturing the company's cost of production by assessing the input cost of each step of production as well as associated overhead cost, then setting realistic cost standards to measure inventory value and production performance. Production cost variance analysis and corrective action implementation is also a key responsibility of this job.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Establish and maintain accurate material, labor and overhead standard costs.
•    Review, monitor and quantify cost saving initiatives.  
•    Throughout the month review and investigate monthly variances from standard cost.
•    Partner with the site team to identify and actively manage the disposition of aged WIP, aged finished goods and E&O items.  
•    Prepare monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations to assure general ledger account accuracy and follow up to close/resolve any open items with the site team.
•    Prepare monthly journal entries.
•    Partner with manufacturing engineering and industrial engineering on production routings and production bills-of-materials. 
•    Lead the preparation and execution of the annual physical inventory at the plant. 
•    Reconcile physical and perpetual inventory counts to the general ledger through management of the site’s cycle and line side inventory programs.
•    Support audit requirements for both internal and external auditors.
•    Monitor material receipts and purchase orders for accurate recording.   
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
•    Willingness to expand the position into additional areas of Accounting.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
Years’ Experience: 3+ years’ relevant experience in standard cost environment

•    Great attitude with focus on personal accountability, customer-focused mindset and continuous improvement approach to your work
•    Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
•    Strong analytical skills required
•    Must be self-motivated with good written and communications skills
•    Knowledge in SAP system a plus
•    Skillful at MS Office, including strong Excel skills including V-lookup, pivot tables, and filtering functions
•    Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines as part of the closing schedule 
•    Willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines need to be met
