Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration. These sensors can be used on planes, train control systems or even missile control systems.

Job Designation

The Senior Director of Operations is accountable for the critical functions required to produce products.  This position will be responsible for driving continual process and product improvement throughout the organization and ensuring product integrity.  Will ensure that appropriate resources are allocated to achieve annual operating objectives as well as aligning the operation to support strategic goals. The Senior Director of Operations is a member of the Site Leadership team.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Direct and manage all Manufacturing Value Stream teams. Ensure safe operations
•    Ensure environmental standards are followed.
•    Collaborate closely with support functions including: Program Management, Human Resources, Finance, EH&S, Contracts, Engineering, Quality Systems, Quality Engineering and Inspection, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities/Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning and Scheduling, Warehouse and Logistics, and Operational Excellence.
•    Provide advice and counsel on operational issues to the General Manager and other Meggitt leaders.
•    Lead and execute continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve competitiveness relative to cycle times and improve quality.
•    Lead operations team and direct organizational development and training requirements for a high-performance work team.
•    Control and improve operational costs both direct and indirect.
•    Direct improvements for WIP inventory levels to drive competitive business position for future business.
•    Ensure Operations department procedures and employee behaviors are compliant with all governing federal, state, local and corporate regulations.
•    Champion and support the High Performance System (HPS) including Policy Deployment, Lean Transformation, Strategic Sourcing, TPS and Continuous Improvement Philosophy with hands-on involvement and reinforcement. Drive and support implementation of the HPS.
•    Champion and support the Meggitt High Performance Culture (HPC) and provide demonstrated leadership support.
•    Ensure the quality system is adhered to, champion a culture of Built In Quality (BIQ), Zero Defects and honoring standards.
•    Support the established S&OP process – assure effective integration between sales and operations for effective planning and execution.
•    Manage the direct and indirect staffing levels within responsible budgets
•    Provide mentoring and training to subordinates.
•    Establish appropriate Operations goals within the context of the Meggitt strategy and ensures attainment of these to support top level objectives.
•    Ensure that performance metrics are posted and displayed, assessments are conducted, and visual management systems are maintained.
•    Direct participation in Tier 1 customer initiatives, readiness assessments, and other partnership activities.
•    Maintain and apply a broad understanding of financial management principals related to cash flow and working capital to ensure decisions are fiscally sound and responsible.

Job Specifications

Education:  Bachelor degree required, preferably in engineering, manufacturing or related technical field
Years’ Experience: 15+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibilities including supervision and management experience

•    Experience in Aerospace and/or Defense operations
•    Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and disciplines
•    Strong knowledge of/experience with manufacturing support functions such as Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, and Materials
•    Demonstrated accomplishment in Lean Systems implementation and Continuous Improvement
•    Ability to drive relentless root cause analyses
•    Strong business acumen and customer interaction experience
•    Strong employee relations experience
•    Strong mentoring and coaching skills
•    Strong leadership skills - effective in motivating and directing a team for positive results
•    Strong knowledge of ERP and automated scheduling systems
•    Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
