Job Designation

The Senior Commercial Manager supports the Director, Commercial in managing the customer facing contract and agreement processes for the Product Group (PG). Specifically this will include preparing contractual agreements and providing commercial related advice; drafting and reviewing contractual documentation and negotiating agreements in accordance with corporate policy and applicable legal requirements. The Senior Commercial Manager drives efficient commercial performance throughout the product and contract life cycle, including implementation of modifications and amendments as necessary; working closely with the Customer Account Management (CAM) team and other functions within the PG to ensure customer requirements are met.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Maintains responsibility and accountability for assigned customer commercial and contractual relationships.

•    Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS as well as demonstrated ability to  interpret and apply those provisions.
•    Assesses contractual and commercial risk and provides appropriate advice to the Director, Commercial and the business leadership team.
•    Provides commercial and contractual support and input to the bid teams responses to RFI's or RFP's, including responsibility for management and compliance of the BAR process and obtaining all necessary internal approvals.
•    Ensures that dissemination of agreements and contract closedown/exit activities are completed within expected timelines.
•    Monitors and analyses the administration of contracts to ensure compliance with contract terms and company policies and reports on performance; supporting Programme Management and Customer Account Management functions.
•    Drafts, commercial documents such as NDA’s and Terms and Conditions of Contract. Strong Negotiation skills.
•    Ensures contract management system records (including Meggitt CRM) are maintained and accurate.
•     Assists / lead in contract closedown/exit activities.
•    Manages and reports on Meggitt’s portfolio of Commercial Intermediaries and manages the associated policies, processes and tools.
•    Provides support, training and mentorship to other business functions.
•    Other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by Director, Commercial.

Job Specifications

Education:  Post-Secondary Degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Years Experience:  5+ years of experience in Commercial or contract management with an emphasis in US Government Contracting and work transfer/ low cost region sourcing


  • Extensive experience in US Government (USG) contracting to include:  
  • In-depth knowledge and applicability of USG rules & regulations, i.e. FAR, DFARS, cost principles, intellectual property and commerciality provisions
  • Able to establish and maintain effective business relationships based on mutual respect and trust,
  • Strong working knowledge of USG regulations (FAR/DFARS) and ability to review contracts and RFPs to determine acceptability and compliance,
  • A “can do” approach to work and the satisfaction of customers’ requirements,
  • Generating and accepting feedback to drive improvements in business process 
  • Strong inter-personal skills, use of own initiative and self-motivated with a drive to succeed,
  • Able to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
  • Experienced in developing and negotiating contractual agreements
  • Logical problem solving and strong numeric skills
  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers; particularly proficiency in manipulating the Business Evaluation Model (BEM)
  • Knowledge and experience of (SFDC)
  • Ability to manage own workload, and prioritises tasks as required,
  • Proven negotiating skills, with the ability to achieve results without alienating the Customer (whether internal or external).
