Job Designation

The Engineer II, Manufacturing provides a range of expertise in supporting and improving the manufacturing capabilities to produce products. Contributes to improving a range of fabrication processes that can directly impact the sustaining and growth efforts of operations.  Participates in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing and supply chain environment.        

Job Core Responsibilities

Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies. Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools. Working knowledge of QMS and MRP software and systems. Understands how to influence and implement Built-In Quality in manufacturing processes. Provide direction and assistance in task completion for the entry level and junior MQE Techs and Engineers. Proficient in CAD, SolidWorks preferred. Working understanding of GD&T. 3D Scanning, printing, and modeling (MakerBot, FARO, and GeoMagic or equivalent).  Application of continuous improvement process to manufactured products, using applicable methods and procedures. Transfers new products into production from a “design for manufacturability” approach. Knowledge of core zero defect engineering tools (i.e. DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, and 8D). Participate in the Development of Zero Defect plan to eliminate defects and cost associated with product rework. Drive capability (Ppk & Cpk) to meet or exceed targets for sustainable Continuous Improvement throughout the plant. Conduct and review Manufacturing and Quality Process audits and assessments. Data Analytics and Interpretation with ability to translate to actionable items for continuous improvement and problem resolution: 8-D, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), PDCA Cycle (Plan, Do, Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.  Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools. Working knowledge of QMS and MRP software and systems. Understands how to influence and implement Built-In Quality in manufacturing processes. Provide direction and assistance in task completion for the entry level and junior MQE Techs and Engineers. Proficient in CAD, SolidWorks preferred. Working understanding of GD&T. 3D Scanning, printing, and modeling (MakerBot, FARO, and GeoMagic or equivalent).  Application of continuous improvement process to manufactured products, using applicable methods and procedures.  Transfers new products into production from a “design for manufacturability” approach. Knowledge of core zero defect engineering tools (i.e. DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, and 8D). Participate in the Development of Zero Defect plan to eliminate defects and costs associated with product rework. 

Job Specifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering field, statistics, or similar field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Years Experience : 3 - 5 years in Manufacturing or quality engineering role. 
Skills : Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in multi-functional teams including suppliers, to exact deadlines, and often under pressure.  Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques. Experience with New part Introduction, Project Management, problem-solving/resolution tools, and techniques within an aerospace environment.

Conversant with the suite of Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).  Engineering degree required in a relevant discipline (quality/engineering/manufacturing based). PPAP experience including FAI preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques and their application. Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations strongly preferred. Formal continuous improvement qualification (green or black belt) preferred. Regular, consistent, and punctual on-site* attendance is required.
