Our Airframe Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world’s leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers.

Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration. These sensors can be used on planes, train control systems or even missile control systems.

Whether it’s developing new radome solutions, fuel delivery systems or high-altitude life support systems, Airframe Systems embodies the innovation at the heart of Meggitt.

Job Designation

The Quality Director leads and directs the Quality operations within a large business unit or group of businesses in accordance with the company's strategic objectives. Increases interdepartmental cooperation and focuses the attitude on quality. Ensures products and processes are in compliance with regulations, specifications, contract requirements and quality system standards.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Implements and communicates quality policies and programs consistent with customer requirements, quality regulations and the company procedures.
•    Establishes and maintains an organization capable of adapting to a dynamic business/ manufacturing environment which focuses on continuous improvement, good communication, professionalism, and efficiency.
•    Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
•    Develops a “Build Quality In” expectation and strategy and drives this through cultural change.
•    Leads, guides, and mentors the organization in disciplined problem solving (e.g., A3, 8D). Establishes a Problem Solving Academy within the location.
•    Develops, implements, manages QMS for manufacturing plants.
•    Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
•    Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing QA and customer.
•    Designs, implements, and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
•    Establishes and implements metrics to include proactive measures (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
•    Develops quality planning methods for all product lines.
•    Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development teams.
•    Evaluates internal compliance to all requirements, identifies areas requiring corrective action, and follows through using disciplined problem solving to ensure effectiveness of improvements.
•    Management of Quality department, supervising two or more full time employees (or equivalent).
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education:  Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related technical field
Years’ Experience: 10+ years of Quality experience; minimum of 5 years working in a Lean environment. Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment required.
Skills:
•    Strong team development and management skills to enable the creation of a highly capable and sustainable QA Function
•    Demonstrated QA expertise and ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge
•    Solid Operational Excellence knowledge and experience
•    Ability to effect change across a business unit
•    Strong technical and/or Engineering background a plus
•    Demonstrated problem solving experience using a disciplined problem solving methodology
•    Experienced with making technical and managerial decisions which will have significant effect on products
•    Solid analytical skills and judgment to proactively identify and solve complex issues
•    Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Demonstrates ability to analyze and determine methods and procedures
•    Ability to prioritize competing commitments in line with departmental and/or corporate objectives
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
