Job Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the world's leading heat exchanger companies, our Heatric business within Meggitt.   With a growing order book and exciting plans for the future, we are recruiting a Senior Thermal Design Engineer to join our team.  Our thermal engineers are primarily engaged in designing heat exchangers, working with our internal teams and our customers to provide creative technical solutions which push boundaries whilst meeting specification requirements.


Internally you will work with bid teams, manufacturing teams, mechanical engineers, project engineers and project managers to ensure we provide cost-effective designs.  You will also work with our customers to ensure we provide exemplary service, always meeting or preferably exceeding their expectations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on taking products from concept to creation and through design reviews
  • Analysis of client data in order to generate designs and quotations (this involves complex and non-standard applications)
  • Lead technical clarifications with both internal and external customers
  • Create and approve project and job documentation for engineering handover to manufacturing function
  • Perform simulations and provide technical support on existing designs to support services
  • Work with our cross-functional teams to provide engineering expertise and support 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ideally educated to degree level
  • 5 years’ experience in a process/manufacturing industry, designing heat exchangers or thermal design experience
  • Good understanding of concept design
  • Must have a strong understanding of all aspects of thermal design, combined with sound knowledge of mechanical design.
  • Preferred background in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC).
  • Ability to liaise with different stakeholders from a design perspective
