Role Summary

Are you an Engineer or have an extensive background in Engineering and would like to be more commercially focused? 

 

Our market-leading Heatric business, part of Meggitt is looking for a Business Development Manager. This is a unique role which will provide leadership of Business Development activities whilst supporting wider customer and sales activities with specific focus on future energy markets. You will set up requirements for capabilities, technologies and the products required to ensure market penetration.

 

The role will also provide leadership development opportunities by working closely with the Sales & Service team to establish and maintain the business strategy for markets and technologies. In this role it is imperative you have a deep rooted understanding of Engineering & can provide solutions to complex issues that our customer base provides.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support all global Sales activity relating to future energy markets
  • Evaluate market demands for technology and innovation from developing and emerging sectors, using business processes to challenge the business strategy if it does not support them.
  • Apply Continuous Improvement methodology to the Gate 0 to Gate 3 Product Lifecycle Management processes from Lessons Learned during bidding activities
  • Use PLM, High Performance System and HPC to enhance  strategic, commercial and technical alignment between the Engineering and Sales and Services activities in the business
  • Support the business involvement in industry panels and research networks related to Future energy markets
  • Technical/Application Mentor for the Sales and Services function on Power Generation and sCO2

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Degree educated
  • Thorough understanding and expertise in business development
  • Relevant experience in a similar industry, must have a background in Engineering & be able to provide Engineering solutions
  • Heat exchanger design and manufacture, ideally with understanding of the complexity and challenges associated with high temperature systems
  • Leading and developing high performing teams, demonstrated ability and determination to achieve goals
  • Proven consultative selling skills to develop attractive value propositions     
  • Skill in supervising to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance
  • Self-development - Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels
