Job Designation

Manage procurement processes to ensure an integrated sourcing system that meets customer requirements, minimizes total supply chain cost, maximizes supply chain effectiveness and establishes an inventory flow that is responsive to the needs of the business.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Support and execute effective global supply chain strategy in support of company business objectives including leveraging all direct material purchases, generating year over year material cost improvements
• Identify, measure, and document cost savings goals, objectives and plans to realize opportunities and achieve cost reduction targets.
• Manage procurement group, establishing best practices and standard work
• Facilitate communication and alignment on sourcing and supplier strategies with operations team
• Support and execute sourcing process to determine sourcing options and supply alternatives that provide maximum value to the company
• Support and develop new, low cost sources for products and technologies as business requirements dictate
• Confer with suppliers and analyzes supplier’s operations to determine factors that affect price and determines the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.
• Work closely with suppliers to achieve superior levels of performance in quality, delivery, cost management and service across multiple product lines
• Build and maintain constructive, value-added relationships with executives and managers of key suppliers with an expectation of continuous improvement in products and costs.
• Communicate forecasts to suppliers to leverage purchasing power, reduce costs and ensure quality and delivery meet company standards
• Ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials, services & equipment, at optimum cost, quality and on-time delivery
• Lead supplier facility and capability audits
• Negotiate terms, conditions, pricing, price adjustments, delivery requirements, logistics, and other pertinent issues.
• Provide critical forecasting information to suppliers and work with suppliers to develop their capacity and skills.
• Establish and manage performance metrics and dashboards
• Monitor supplier performance, communicate performance issues and manage significant problem areas to ensure needed improvements.
• Maintain active risk assessment profiles for suppliers.
• Monitor supplier’s capabilities to meet forecasted requirements.
• Utilize ERP system to access and analyze data for decision making
• Manage spend data and determine opportunities for cost reduction

Job Specifications

Education Level: (Required):  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
         

Field of Study/Area of Experience:
5+ years of experience in materials / purchasing function and supply chain leadership for manufactured goods, namely castings and machined products

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

• Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology, and demonstrated experience in developing strategic sourcing strategies.
• Managerial responsibility for Vendor Liaison, buyers and Supply Chain Specialists
• Experience with inventory management concepts (turns, VMI, reductions), contract negotiations, demand forecasting, and operations planning
• BS degree with an MBA preferred with a proven track record of experience in successful supply chain leadership and bottom line results
• Must have hands on experience in vendor selection and negotiation
• Sourcing/Procurement experience at the leadership level
• Strong mathematical, analytical, strategic and reasoning skills
• Ability to operate independently and communicate effectively with internal clients, peers and senior managers as well as external suppliers.
• Excellent project management and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• A high energy level, entrepreneurial spirit, decisive and confident
• Professional certification preferred (CPM, CPIM or APICS)
