Job Designation
The Procurement Manager will lead the staff and the procurement activities within a business unit. Plans coordinates, and directs various complex procurement and material processes from the initial proposal efforts through the delivery of the end product. Ensures that the procurement procedures are in compliance with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and management objectives.
Job Core Responsibilities
- Develops procurement strategies and oversees all procurement and material planning activities from the initial proposal efforts through the delivery of the end product
- Organizes, directs, and implements cost-reduction activities to ensure maximum return to the division for minimum expenditures.
- Implements processes to manage risk within the supply chain and monitors procurement procedures to comply with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and company policy
- Manages contractual differences between purchase order requirements and supplier performance; establishes contractual obligations while ensuring compliance with laws and truth in negotiations
- Monitors the changing marketplace and works around plans to avoid negative impact on corporate cost and delivery performance objectives
- Plans tactics and strategies for negotiations of subcontracts to maintain expenditures within program material budget limitation
- Leads and directs work for the team of employees as defined by business needs
- Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications
Education: Bachelor's degree is required
Years Experience: min 7 years of procurement and purchasing experience
Skills: Excellent facilitation and project management skills with the ability to lead the supply chain team and drive tasks to completion
- Knowledge of procurement best practices and experience with managing tight development program deadlines in aerospace/manufacturing environment
- Understanding of contracts, compliance, and government laws (domestic/international) relating to supply chain
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and demonstrated use of thought leadership to set and execute procurement strategies
- Experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success negotiating with a variety of suppliers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to drive tasks to completion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
- Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $99K-$173K
