Job Designation

Reporting to the Director of Product and Services Development, the positions will be based in each of the S&S main hubs. The key purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer & Cost down Engineer is to ensure that all manufacturing engineering activities are handled professionally and completed effectively in accordance with business process and protocols. The key initiative of this role will be identifying and delivering solutions for labor & material cost down activities to control/reduce cost within MRO hubs (repair or replace). The individual will work with the wider S&S team driving SMART Support to develop cost down activities to support the business initiative. The Manufacture & Cost down Engineer will be accountable for identifying & implementing lean manufacturing techniques within the aligned module to ensure improvements on Quality, Cost & Delivery within the operational areas. They will work closely with the local operation leads and be responsible for training & implementation as well as read across opportunities for all cost down projects to other sites and product lines.

Job Specifications

Education : Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Travel : 20%
Years Experience :
5 - 10 years of relevant experience

Skills :

  • Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing while analyzing, evaluating and determine solutions to a variety of problems
  • Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge     
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools 
  • Team building Skills and be able to work on own initiative to deliver required results
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to make oral presentations, to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports

  • Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool (s)
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, procedures and standards policy and procedure development techniques
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) preferable
