Job Designation

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The HR Coordinator carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental processes, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Leave of Absence (LOA) tracking, Workers Compensation, training and development, benefits, recruiting, payroll data changes, and other related activities.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day administrative support to the Human Resources department
  • Maintains documentation relating to personnel activities such as, recruitment and onboarding, training, performance evaluations and grievances
  • Reviews resumes, schedules interviews, administers testing of applicants and forwards results to management
  • Tracks and maintains items related to Workers Compensation and Leaves of Absences for FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, and compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Compiles and maintains personnel files and HRIS System entries
  • Tracks items related to payroll data changes and partners with payroll personnel to ensure items are processed timely and accurately
  • Conducts audits of all I-9 forms and documentation regularly to ensure forms are in compliance
  • Generates various reports for human resources leadership and finance
  • Carefully handles sensitive and confidential information/situations and documentation
  • Assists in employee benefits programs and coordinates full new hire onboarding process
  • Communicates effectively through phone, e-mail and correspondence, while maintaining a professional manner 
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education A Bachelor's Degree / Secondary Certificate or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations  
Years Experience 2 or more years of relevant experience

Skills    

  • Knowledge and experience in human resources processes and the ability to coordinate activities for a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS Systems and other related programs
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a timely and efficient manner and anticipate critical deadlines
  • Understanding of confidentiality within the HR department
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills 
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
  • Ability to recognize and solve typical problems and select solutions from established options
  • Ability to work independently and use judgement to resolve both routine and non-routine problems 
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

Office /Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. 

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
