Job Designation

The Engine Systems Division of Meggitt is comprised of 4 Product Groups: Flow Control, Engine Composites, Engine Sensing and Thermal Systems.

Based in North Hollywood, with sites in both California, and the UK, our Flow Control Product Group is looking for a dynamic HR Director who will be responsible for ongoing HR strategy and functional support for the business in addressing its various people needs.

As a key member of the Product Group Leadership Team, the breadth of job duties include development and implementation of People Strategy, including all HR Programs, Culture and engagement initiatives, as well oversight of recruitment, new hire on-boarding, labor relations, union activities, reporting and compliance, administration of the company ethics program, and providing adherence for established company policies and procedures and all applicable federal and regional laws and regulations.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Manage and Lead the HR team to ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively. 
    • Talent management and succession planning. 
  • Organizational development and strategic development of the site. 
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Affirmative Action plan/OFCCP compliance and FAA Drug/Alcohol Program.
  • Oversee the benefits open enrollment process and vitality program to ensure we are in compliance with the guidelines. 
  • Designated Ethics Coordinator for the site.  Facilitates the Ethics Program, training and investigations of reported events. 
  • Manages risk for the organization and ensures compliance with all Federal and State laws (terms, leaves, employee relations matters, etc.) Keeps abreast of current labor laws and changes.
  • Manage the UAW process and guidelines and attend monthly meetings with General Manager and ensure action items are completed.
  • Responsible for the recruitment of management level positions and interviewing of all final candidates. 
  • Responsible for managing and resolving employee relations matters. Conducts investigations and individual employee counseling meetings as needed. Manage the progressive disciplinary action process. 
  • Responsible for the HR portion of the Meggitt Production System (MPS) projects and tasks and provide updates at the DLA board layer four.  
  • Active participant at the Strategy Deployment Process (SDP) semi-monthly meetings
  • Prepare monthly data and reports for Monthly Site Review and attend Monthly Site Review meetings.
  • Responsible for monthly costs savings and annual budget for Human Resources.
  • Leads the Employee Engagement Committee and meets on a quarterly or as needed basis.
  • Manage the Meggitt Performance Appraisal Process and assist with goal alignment.
  • Manage the presidential bonus and merit review process.
  • Oversee the Worker’s Compensation and LOA program and provides guidance to the HR Generalist on how to proceed with claims. 
  • Ensures compliance of all regulatory documents within the HR department (new FMLA forms, new LOA laws, Federal/State legal updates, etc.) 
  • Create and manage training and development and career progression program. 
  • Conduct peer analysis of all offers of employment to ensure no adverse action exists. 
  • Compensation analysis.  Create salary bands of existing positions and conduct regular market analysis of pay for open positions

  • Manage the rewards/recognition and incentives program for employees
  • Evaluate market trends for the industry and organization and make recommendations to General Manager
  • Manage ETP Funding program to support training initiatives
  • Provides customer service to employees by answering questions related to interpretation of company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and monitors an annual budget that includes Human Resources services; maintains and provides current information on benefits such as retirement, and insurance, etc.
  • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for Meggitt with regard to employee relations; provides leadership, coaching and counseling, while driving a culture of growth, meeting commitments, and positive employee relations.
  • Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit; interviews management, and executive-level candidates.
  • Defines Human Resources training programs, while providing necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports.
  • Oversees the implementation of business unit safety and health programs, and monitors the tracking of required safety data.
  • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for Meggitt with regard to employee relations; provides leadership, coaching and counseling, while driving a culture of growth, meeting commitments, and positive employee relations.
Job Specifications

Education: Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years Experience:10 - 15 years of Human Resources experience


  • Functional expertise in all areas of human resources management including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, compensation, benefits and compliance with government laws/regulations as appropriate for the business location 
  • Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations and documentation
  • Ability to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
  • Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
