Job Designation

The Continuous Improvement Director will lead the entire Continuous Improvement department of the site.  They will be responsible for deployment of the tools, methods and processes that make up the Meggitt Production System (MPS), including Lean Management Systems, Six Sigma, and Lean & Waste elimination approaches, key to MPS system effectiveness. Ability to lead and facilitate lean kaizen events to drive business performance improvement along with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Job Core Responsibilities
  • Manage the tools, methods and processes that make up the Meggitt Production System, including Lean Management Systems, Six Sigma, and Lean & Waste elimination approaches key to MPS system effectiveness.
  • Develop/deploy accelerated foundational strategies as well as execution plans and oversight / reviews systems
  • Drive the CI department initiatives of learning, certification , and a core approach for key tools, methods and MPS elements
  • Responsible to influence and lead site and functional engagement accountability for systematic multiyear roll out of MPS within the site & functional areas. Some cross site support within the SBU to facilitate horizontal learning and travel cost effectiveness will be required.
  • Collaborate with peers and department manager to determine key goals and objectives, and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period (usually one year).
  • Interface closely with the SBU and Site HR leadership assuring effective cultural base transformation and change management methods.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Establish a maturity plan from pre-launch to higher stages and levels of achievement working in collaboration with the MPS SBU and site leadership team to put in place and deploy the appropriate management system / metrics to assure progress is made and tracked, and expected results are achieved.
  • Analysis of “current” state, “future” state VSM development, gap analysis, development of foundational pre-requisites
  • Serve as a facilitator in conducting MPS training and lean kaizen events (Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, etc).
  • Lead kaizen impact process to quantify savings achieved through continuous improvement, and report savings by project on regular basis to support Site and SBU management reviews.
  • Prepare, implement and track project budgets and schedules.
  • Accomplish project objectives and complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
Job Specifications

Education Level: (Required):  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience         

Field of Study/Area of Experience:
8+ years of experience in Operating systems deployment, Lean Mfg, Six Sigma/DMAIC methodology in the capacity of Manufacturing Engineer, Lean Coordinator, or similar positions.
Experience in deployment of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques to drive culture change of the organization and encourage employee engagement.
Ideal candidate can demonstrate prior experience deploying such system as MPS at a large industrial company (Fortune/FTSE 100).
Demonstrated experience in Organizational Development (OD) and/or Operational Excellence (OE) toolset and methodology.

• Lean Expert/Black Belt certifications preferred as defined in Industry criteria equating to excellent lean manufacturing teaching and observation skills.
• Ability to build consensus across multiple organizations and Sr. levels of the organization
