Job Designation

The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead the Continuous Improvement initiatives of the site in alignment with operations and business objectives. They will be responsible for leading the tools, methods, and processes that make up the High Performance System (HPS), including Lean Management Systems, Business Process Improvement, and Lean & Waste elimination approaches, key to HPS system effectiveness.  Ability to lead and facilitate lean kaizen events to drive business performance improvement along with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Capability building in the tools methods, and processes that make up the Meggitt Production System, including Lean Management Systems, Six Sigma, and Lean & Waste elimination approaches key to HPS system effectiveness.
  • Responsible to influence and lead site and functional engagement accountability for systematic multi-year roll our of HPS within the site and functional areas. Some corss site support within the Division to facilitate horizontal learning and travel cost effectiveness will be required.
  • Establish a maturity plan from pre-launch to higher stages and levels of achieving working in collaboration with the HPS Group and site leadership team to put in place and deploy the appropriate management system/metrics to assure progress is make and tracked, and expected results are achieved.
  • Analysis of "current" state, "future" state VSM development, gap analysis, development of foundational prerequisites.
  • Develop/deploy accelerated foundational strategies as well as execution plans and oversight/reviews systems.
  • Drive the CI department initiatives of learning, certification, and a core approach for key tools methods and HPS elements.
  • Interface closely with the Site HR leadership assuring effective cultural base transformation and change management methods.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction objectives are included in the Business Improvement Plan.
  • Serve as a facilitator in conducting HPS training and lean kaizen events (Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.)
  • Prepare, implement and track projects budgets and schedules.
  • Accomplish project objectives and complete assigned tasks on schedule and within targeted improvement financial targets.
  • Collaborate with peers and department manager to determine key goals and objectives and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period (usually one year.)
  • Lead kaizen impact process to quantify savings achieved through continuous improvement, and report savings by project on regular basis to support Site and Divisional management reviews.
  •  Assists in maintaining a safe production environment
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned
  •  Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  •  Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferably in an engineering discipline, manufacturing or technical field

Years Experience: min 8+ years of experience in Operating Systems deployment, Lean Mfg, Six Sigma/DMAIC methodology in the capacity of a Manufacturing Engineer, Lean Coordinator, or similar positions.


  • Experience in deployment of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques to drive culture change of the organization and encourage employee engagement.
  • Ideal candidate can demonstrate prior experience deploying Operational Excellence system at a large industrial company (Fortune/FTSE 100)
  • Demonstrated experience in Organizational Development (OD) and/or Operational Excellence (OE) toolset and methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving functional excellence initiatives. Experience in conducting and leading lean kaizen events both on the shop floor and in transactional departments, addressing production to takt time, targets & results and daily/hourly/monthly performance measures.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Software application, Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
