Across its five product groups, Airframe Systems produces a host of world leading technology. Our Braking Systems product group supplies both military and commercial aircrafts.

We seal essential spaces, such as landing gear, wings, engines, nacelles, windows and doors, and produce intelligent air data systems and sensors that measure altitude, angle or acceleration. These sensors can be used on planes, train control systems or even missile control systems.

Job Designation

The Senior Engineer, Manufacturing uses expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce products. Designs, improves and installs integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing and supply chain environment.  Directly impacts all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, as well as the sustaining and growth efforts of operations.                                    

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Provides objective, functional and financial engineering guidance on capital expenditures to division management and follow up on the implementation process
•    Designs and implements processes and procedures to support a safe work culture and meet governing safety regulations
•    Coordinates all phases of cost reduction; seeks opportunities to reduce costs through operational efficiency improvements, capital investment, and outsourcing
•    Establishes and maintains labor standards to monitor direct/indirect labor and machine performance.
•    Drive continuous improvement; ability to plan, implement and sustain Lean aspects into manufacturing processes
•    Develops, improves and monitors standards, procedures, processes and performance to reduce costs and to improve production operations
•    Reduce costs and improve manufacturing profits, using significant expertise on complex issues, best practices, industry trends and professional knowledge
•    Can serve as primary manufacturing resource in cross-functional activities
•    Provides knowledge and expertise; acting as a professional resource for colleagues
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary 
•    Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications

Education:  Bachelor degree in Engineering required
Years’ Experience: 5-10 years of engineering experience 
Skills:
The primary objective of this role will be leading the manufacturing aspects of the Power Generation Value Stream through the following:
•    Implementation of safety upgrades to equipment and processes
•    Documentation and creation of standard work, work instructions, training material, operating procedures, and process flows of manufacturing areas
•    Transitioning materials in information into existing ERP system
•    Reducing process friction by identifying opportunities for synergies between manufacturing, quality, and engineering 
•    Advising on and supporting inspection plans, both in process and final
•    Application of Lean Manufacturing, including efficient shop layout, organization, SMED, waste reduction, defect reduction and other continuous improvement efforts
•    Performing cost analyses on manufacturing options (make vs buy vs change)
•    Identifying opportunities for alternate manufacturing methods, including both capital investments, process changes, and outsourcing opportunities, representing manufacturing in subsequent process change procedures

General skills and experiences needed for success in this role include:
•    Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions
•    Thorough knowledge of manufacturing while analyzing, evaluating and determine solutions to a variety of problems
•    Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement
•    Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge     
•    Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
•    Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
•    Proficient in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning tool
