Job Designation

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and demonstrate engaging leadership skills to support a dynamic, team-oriented, programmatic environment. As a Senior Contracts and Commercial Specialist, you will oversee the proposal, contract and agreement processes for the business unit supporting state, local and federal direct and indirect opportunities. You will provide commercial and contract guidance to relevant internal stakeholders; review, draft and negotiate contractual documentation, such as proposals, amendments or non-disclosure agreements, in accordance with corporate policy and applicable legal requirements; and ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) or equivalent.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Acts as subject matter expert, advising the business functional departments of contractual rights and obligations 
•    Provide contractual and commercial risk assessments and recommend potential mitigation plans to the Contracts and Commercial team and business unit in accordance with Meggitt policies.
•    Monitors and analyzes the administration of contracts and flow down requirements, as applicable, to ensure compliance with contract terms, US Government contracting regulations (e.g. FAR/DFAR), and corporate policies
•    Facilitate and support reviews, negotiations, and management of complex proposal and contract activities in accordance with corporate policies, legal and customer requirements 
•    Identify non-standard terms or legal risks contracts and facilitate the applicable  internal stakeholder review for feedback or approval
•    Manage all third party intermediary (e.g. distributors) diligence, agreements and renewals for the business
•    Compile and maintain all required contractual records and documents in accordance with contract requirements and corporate policies and procedures.
•    Maintain an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of the US Government Acquisition and Procurement environment, and relevant corporate policies and procedures, commercial contracting methods, FAR/DFARS,
     export and other government regulations 
•    Create standard forms, templates, checklists, guidelines or policies related to commercial operations
•    Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
•    Other responsibilities or special projects as assigned

Job Specifications

Education : Post-Secondary Degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations 
Years Experience : 3-5 years of relevant experience
Skills :

•    Working knowledge of the federal acquisition process, government contracting principles and federal acquisition regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS, flow downs, compliance, etc.)
•    Understand contract language, agreement types and identifying high risk terms
•    Proficient in proposal development, contract negotiation and contract administration
•    Advanced organizational or project management skills to plan and direct technical efforts to meet team objectives and effectively prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
•    Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and work in a visible and proactive manner to deliver positive results in a complex and cross-functional organization
•    Solid critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities
•    Sound technical skills, including the ability to learn new systems, work between multiple systems, edit numerous document formats, and prepare reports 
•    High level knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is required and experience working with Adobe Pro is strongly preferred.
•    Experience with negotiating and managing US government end-use contracts, direct with the DoD and indirect (through a Prime Contractor) preferred.
•    Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR and familiarity with defense aerospace industry & regulations is a plus.
