Job Designation

The Lab Supervisor coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the laboratory team to ensure testing is in compliance with regulatory guidelines.  Provides special knowledge and support to engineers with a variety of laboratory assignments. 

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Supervises the work of laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, including planning laboratory work, evaluating work performed and handling procedural and technical laboratory problems
•    Develops and implements quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of laboratory equipment and compliance with federal regulations; prepares and maintains applicable records
•    Provide input to design engineering on qualification test requirements for new product development programs including test equipment requirements, test duration, and in-house capability
•    Support the troubleshooting and repair of both laboratory test equipment as well as production line test equipment, as requested
•    Utilizes the team’s knowledge to drive improvements and best practices along with meeting company requirements
•    Creates standard work instructions for lab, ensuring work areas are maintained free from safety hazards 
•    Prepares technical reports of project metrics and test results; coordinates the preparation of reports and analyses showing trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions
•    Coordinates, directs and allocates departmental resources to attain optimum productivity and achieve goals and objectives
•    Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs
•    Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
•    Other responsibilities as assigned
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years' Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience
Skills:
•    Must have managerial experience with the ability to set goals and objectives for staff while planning and directing efforts to meet objectives
•    Considerable knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology
•    Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
•    Ability to work efficiently and effectively while handling multiple projects 
•    Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Strong computer proficiencies with Microsoft Office Suite
