Job Designation

The Senior Operations Manager effectively leads and develops the Manufacturing Operations Team, to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching strategic goals. Manages manufacturing and operations processes to ensure sufficient quantities of quality product on time and on budget, in order to meet marketplace demand.  You will Lead, plan, coach and direct the Continuous Improvement Function to ensure safe production of high quality products to meet customer needs in the most cost effective manner.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Effectively manages and develops the Manufacturing Operation team, to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching strategic goals
•    Ensures that Continuous Improvement Teams and activities are progressing in their role while providing infrastructure support to the continuous improvement  process.
•    Establishes processes, benchmarks, tracks systems, timelines and procedures for implementation of best practices.
•    Applies a lean methodology (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) and lean manufacturing tools to continuous improvement efforts to achieve financial and customer benefits.
•    Delivers quality products, on time and on budget
•    Manages crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of operation under designated budget
•    Ensures that resources are utilized effectively and drives improvements
•    Promotes a safe work environment with an ultimate goal of zero accidents
•    Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned:
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

Job Specifications

Education: Post-Secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Certifications: Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma

Years Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience

Skills:

•    Excellent ability to provide strategic leadership and develop comprehensive budgets
•    Strong ability to lead, plan and direct Manufacturing and Operations activities
•    Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools and standard operating procedures, in aerospace or automotive industry
•    Proven ability to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems
•    Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications
•    Proficient with time-studies, lean principals and successful application of some of the improvement tools
•    Strong communication skills to build interpersonal relationships and consensus
•    Complex problem solving and decision making with a proven record of results orientation
•    Solid knowledge of general monitoring and measuring of business related metrics and the communication of performance through the use of Microsoft Office Suite
