Job Designation

The SVP & GM will be responsible for the effective operation of all Services & Support sites in the US. The SVP General Manager oversees and manages various aspects of a business unit or broader processes. Creates and establishes department policies and objectives while aligning with strategic corporate direction. 

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Oversees various business operations aspects or broad processes within the Services & Support US region.

•    Management of business or department, supervising 2 or more full time employees (or equivalent). Responsibilities include hiring and firing subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions), interviewing, selecting, and training employees; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work; directing employees’ work; maintaining production records for use in supervision; appraising employees’ productivity and efficiency for recommending promotions or other changes in status; handling employee complaints and grievances; disciplining employees; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of the employees. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

•    Creates plans, develops and establishes policies to facilitate business units or business processes to meet objectives in accordance with strategic corporate direction.

•    Collaborates with business unit leaders to formulate strategies that satisfy business and customer requirements.

•    Performs data analysis from business unit processes and communicates metrics to upper management.

•    Works within budget to allocate staff and other resources to ensure that operations run smoothly and best utilise available funding to meet departmental objectives.

•    Develops and supports a cross functional culture of continuous improvement.

•    Schedules workload to meet priorities; achieving all performance related targets.

•    Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs.

•    Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.

•    Other responsibilities and duties as required and assigned.

Job Specifications

Education Level: (Required): Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education that will allow successful performance in the role.

Years’ experience: 7+ years of relevant experience (preferred). 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

•    Strong leadership and management skills to enable the creation of highly effective operational processes 

•    Demonstrated ability to execute functional business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy

•    Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations

•    Capable of directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment

•    Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications

•    Demonstrates a high level of ethical behaviour in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance

•    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience

•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
