Job Designation
The Commercial Manager oversees the contract and agreement processes. Prepares contractual agreements and provides commercial related advice. Drafts and reviews contractual documentation and negotiates agreements in accordance with corporate policy and applicable legal requirements. Ensures efficient performance throughout the product life cycle and the life of the contract, including modifications and interpretations to completion.
Job Core Responsibilities
- Assesses contractual and commercial risk and provides appropriate advice to Commercial Management team
- Oversees the bid teams responses to RFI's or RFP's, including obtaining necessary internal approvals
- Manages the Commercial team's contract amendment negotiations
- Ensures that dissemination of agreements and contract closedown/exit activities are completed within expected timelines
- Provides support, training and mentorship to the Commercial Management team
- Monitors and analyzes the administration of contracts to ensure compliance with contract terms and company policies
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications
Education : Post-Secondary Degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Certifications :
Years Experience : 3-5 years of relevant experience
Skills :
- Expert knowledge of federal acquisition process, government contracting principles and regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS, contract specific flow downs, etc.)
- Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR is highly desirable
- Understanding of contractual terms and conditions and high risk terms
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Solid problem solving, decision making and analytical capabilities
- Able to plan and direct technical efforts to meet team objectives
- Strong interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion; effective oral and written communication skills, with strong attention to details
- Ability and willingness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing quality or timeliness
