Job Designation

The Manager of NPI and AR&T at Meggitt Energy and Equipment will lead and mentor the NPI and AR&T  team through the development and delivery of energy products, mechanical valves, electronic and electro-mechanical components and systems, actuators and controllers. The Manager will oversee development of the electronic and electromechanical functions throughout the entire product lifecycle. Fundamental aspects include mechanical valves for harsh application fluid control, actuation systems, analog and digital circuits, design for hazardous location applications, design for RF immunity and noise in electro-mechanical positioning systems.

The Manager will contribute to customer proposals and internal research and development proposals. Will ensure execution of awarded development contracts and self-funded projects through preliminary design, detailed design, qualification testing, certification and production readiness. The lifecycle also includes transferring new designs to production and maintaining design integrity and recurring cost through production sustainment. The Manager will provide leadership to people and product development programs within engineering to ensure schedule, cost, and quality of deliverables meet or exceed leadership and customer expectations.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Guide the engineers to communicate and coordinate effectively with other departments.
•    Provide leadership and career development opportunities to engineers.
•    Communicate clearly and decisively to ensure that each employee understands their roles/function and how to achieve objectives.
•    Provide technical oversight to the development team to minimize schedule, cost and technical risk.
•    Accountable for NRC & RC target performance, requirements traceability and adherence throughout the product lifecycle.
•    Increase efficiencies and improve processes on product development programs.
•    Monitor and establish metrics for tracking and wider development progress through completion.
•    Facilitate a culture to support clearly identified performance metrics and accountability to those metrics.
•    Support the root cause analysis process by providing resources and the associated detailed engineering analysis to result in permanent solutions and corrective actions.
•    Develop and implement schedules in collaboration with Program Management (PgM).
•    Establish projected workload and capacity planning for engineers in collaboration with PgM.
•    Work with relevant stakeholders to provide a handoff from Engineering to Manufacturing.
•    Support issues in manufacturing to ensure that the Operations on-time delivery and quality metrics are achieved.
•    May be a functional/technology expert responsible for supporting the Import/Export Compliance Organization.
•    Foster and nurture an Agile and collaborative work environment.
•    Facilitate and nurture an integrated, collaborative, Agile and seamless electro-mechanical and software team, including internal and external 3rd party partners and centers of excellence.
•    Work with Product Line director to build the optimal electromechanical engineering team to support the needs of the business road map.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. MBA or MS degree in engineering preferred.
Years’ Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience with aerospace or defense manufacturing companies preferably producing electronic components and systems. Prior engineering management experience required.

•    Ability to obtain productivity improvement and to help group members achieve higher success levels
•    Able to hold the team accountable for requirements traceability management
•    Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, are required
•    Desire for mentoring and developing engineers
•    Expert at Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Project
•    Expertise in Electrical Engineering techniques a significant advantage, including but not limited to:
     o   Electrical drawings; ORCAD a plus
     o    Power electronics- analog design
     o    3-phase motor control (vector control)
     o    Fly back power supplies
     o    Motor control software (e.g., TI C28 processor)
     o    EMC, digital electronics, and communication software
