Purpose

Meggitt’s new Ansty Park is the most significant infrastructure investment Meggitt have ever made. The 490k ft2 facility will be the place of work for up to 1000 people, and will be Meggitt’s Centre of Gravity in the UK, encompassing the Global Corporate HQ, Aircraft Braking operations currently located in Coventry, Thermal Management operations currently located in Birmingham, and the EMEA hub for Meggitt’s Services and Support organisation (MRO and Spares distribution). The site will be Meggitt’s blueprint for the future, and by bringing world-class innovation and operational performance together will accelerate Meggitt’s ability to meet the current and future needs of customers worldwide.

The MPS Director oversees the implementation, development and maturation of the Meggitt Production System into all teams and functions on the new site, while aligning with company policies and procedures. Ensures safe production of high quality products to meet customer needs in the most cost effective manner.

Responsibilities:
•Develop the site MPS plan in conjunction with the SLC, aligning with X-matrices flowed down from Corporate, Division and Product Group levels

•Lead the transition to the new site from an MPS point of view, encompassing design of the Meggitt Production System at Ansty, including process alignment and cultural/behavioral change

•Act as MPS advisor to the SLC Leader and SLC member contribute to decisions on how to do things/ strategy, MPS implementation and performance of the SLC

•Lead team of MPS resources accountable for delivering CI projects deriving £xm of benefits per year

•Initiate, develop and implement CI initiatives aligned to site/ division/ PLC goals

•Analyse and measures the effectiveness of complex business processes and develops sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements

•Research best business practices within and outside the organisation to establish benchmark data

•Collect and analyse process data to develop business practices and procedures that enhance safety, increase productivity and reduce costs

•Determine how new information technologies can support re-engineering business processes

•Provide technical expertise and implements lean principles, techniques and methods

•Manage crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of product and plant

•Help Module Managers and Support Functions select vital few projects from the project hopper process

•Interpret MPS requirements and be the first point of contact for MPS questions; standardise all on site MPS activity and initiate and develop approach to satisfy MPS requirements i.e. training material

Key skills and competencies required:
•Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma toolset – minimum Black Belt accreditation

•Understanding of Manufacturing/Engineering processes (including support functions)

•Previous knowledge of implementation of production systems

•Well-developed people skills, including coaching and facilitation skills

•Effective communication and presentation skills

•Significant experience of managing multi-discipline teams

•Automotive/ Aerospace background essential

•Proven track record in process/product improvements

•Keen analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail in order to prepare statistical analysis

•Ability to deal with multi-product stream/servicing mini-businesses on one site

•Experience of operating within a matrix organisation/ability to manage multiple stakeholders

•Ability to manage through a period of transition and ensure the team remains focused and engaged
