Job Designation

The Mechanical Engineer 4 acts as a key contributor on the Mechanical Engineering Team and creates solutions to a wide range of complex technical issues. Also acts as a mechanical contributor in a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Professionally contributes and leads a variety of mechanical engineering assignments and contributes to the characterization, analysis and development of the valves and electro-mechanical actuators.               

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Provides mechanical valve and electro-mechanical actuator design expertise to support development of new mechanical products  or improvement of existing ones
•    Executes and supports complex mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering assignments throughout the project life cycle and ensures cost and schedule targets are met or exceeded.
•    Initiates improvements to products, using best practices and professional knowledge
•    Acts as a professional resource for colleagues and provides technical direction and guidance to other team members
•    Reduces costs and improves mechanical design and development processes, using best practices and professional expertise
•    Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs
•    Provides technical support for new projects and evaluates the requirements and implications
•    Collaborates with electrical and software functions to yield the optimal multidisciplinary solutions
•    Maintains adherence to internal and external processes including Program Lifecycle Requirements, design reviews and other technical governance
•    Collaborates across the business to leverage best practices
•    Other responsibilities as assigned
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering required; Master degree a plus
Years’ Experience: 10 years or more of engineering experience
Skills:   
•    A proven record as a technical lead on projects of a complex nature and providing mechanical engineering expertise 
•    A background in any of the following areas of competence a significant advantage:
      •    High temperature/pressure valve design
      •    Electrical actuator design
      •    High temperature/pressure fluid control
      •    Pressure equipment design
      •    Hazardous and/or Ordinary Location certifications or similar regulatory environment 
•    Proficient with 3-D modeling, CAD and SolidWorks
•    Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications
•    Effectively communicates difficult concepts and negotiates well with others   
•    Solid analytical skills and judgment to proactively identify and solve increasingly complex problems
•    Demonstrated ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge 
•    Process oriented with a keen appreciation for lean principles
•    Able to communicate and collaborate at all levels of the business
•    Able to coordinate internal and external resourcing to achieve objectives and goals
•    Able to analyze problems to root cause using appropriate tools
•    Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
