Job Designation

The Health Safety and Environment Coordinator provides a range of administrative support to Health, Safety, and Environment activities. Assists the team with coordinating and maintaining effective safety programs and environmental management systems. Participates in audits, documentation, and training activities. 

IMPORTANT: Please note this role is a weekend shift role. Friday to Sunday - 12 hours shift.

Job Core Responsibilities


  • Provides support for the Health, Safety, and Environment Team to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with government regulations and company procedures                
  • Participates in training documentation for lock out / tag out procedures, forklift operations, hazardous material handling, and other areas of high-risk exposure                
  • Schedules and prepares various internal and external Health, Safety, and Environment meetings                
  • Participates in creating safety training presentations and performs training of a routine nature                
  • Provides support to the recycling programs, emergency response management, and hazardous waste removal                 
  • Maintains and updates Material Safety Data Sheets, ensuring the most current data is available               
  • Assists with the development of written safety procedures that are in alignment with regulatory guidelines                
  • Coordinates and communicates with other departments as needed to support team objectives                
  • Other responsibilities as assigned                
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications


Education: Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma; or the equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years of Experience: minimum 2 years or more of relevant experience


  • Knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environment regulations, and the ability to coordinate activities for a team            
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills            
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations            
  • Ability to recognize and solve typical problems and select solutions from established options            
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion            
  • General knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets            
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
