Meggitt’s civil aerospace presence covers large commercial transports, regional aircraft, business jets, helicopters and general aviation. Its defence markets cover all military aircraft types, land systems, naval platforms and aerial, land-based and marine threat simulation training and weapons systems development. The firearms element of this capability extends into law enforcement and security organisations. 

The group’s growing presence in energy is driven by our core fluid controls, heat management and sensing and monitoring capabilities, many of which are deployed to help reduce the maintenance costs, fuel consumption and carbon emissions of industrial gas and steam turbines.

Purpose:
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting ongoing development, process improvements and transition activities. 

Responsibilities
•    Lead / Participate in PFMEA activities involving cross functional teams
•    Ensure Processes and current methods of manufacture are capable through time and motion studies, line balancing and flow to achieve the required level of readiness for NPI or transition.
•    Create or edit information on the ERP System
•    Work in a team based environment to develop production concepts
•    Generate Standard Operating procedures.
•    Support production area/cell in resolving technical issues
•    Generate KPIs on periodic basis
•    Review and co-ordinate with other functions to close out actions arising from existing concessions and permits within an agreed time frame.
•    Analyze existing manufacturing processes through time motion studies, suggest improvements. 
•    Participate in Value Stream Mapping and 3P events and contribute in designing and optimizing single process flow.
 

Key skills and competencies required:
•    Experienced manufacturing engineer
•    At least aerospace experience (can be over multiple projects but these need to be at least 6 months in length)
•    Experience of physical process change (e.g. machinery move, factory transfer, NPI)
•    Experience of capability assessments (for machines/processes), FAIIs & LAIRs


Desirable skills:
•    Six Sigma Green belt Trained or accredited or equivalent lean skills (gained in a six sigma environment)
•    8D Problem solving skills and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
