Job Designation

The Manufacturing Engineer, Composites Process Development (PD) conducts manufacturing process development efforts for the Meggitt Engine Systems-Engines Composites Product Group.    Supporting Applied Research and Technology (AR&T), New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing manufacturing processes and demonstrating those processes are fully capable of meeting critical requirements.  Will own the deployment of Meggitt Production System (MPS) against NPI programs, as well as assist in MPS deployment across current programs. Will ensure good product flow through the manufacturing processes with appropriate visual management and application of industry standard lean manufacturing principles. This will require project management skills and occasional coordination of the activities of other team members.

Position will be located in Erlanger, KY, and will require some travel to other Meggitt sites and Customer locations (Travel <10%).

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Develops cell layouts and process flows for NPI programs before launch into full production.    
•    Verifies MCRL5 readiness and process capability against customer and business requirements.
•    Manages low rate production runs during process verification. Applies continuous improvement principles before full rate production.                
•    Completes statistical analysis of inspection data to determine process capability.            
•    Collaborates with Operations management to write CERs and for deployment of full rate production.                                                
•    Performs PFMEA on NPI projects.
•    Evaluation and Authoring of work instructions against Meggitt standards.                
•    Implementation of standard work, visual management, process flow, and line balancing.    

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering
Years' Experience: 5+ years or more of relevant experience in manufacturing process design, LEAN manufacturing, and/or operations management                        
•    Conversational Spanish a plus
•    Basic understanding of composites and their applications
•    Strong understanding of operations management
•    Application of LEAN principles and adaption to Meggitt's MPS    
•    Adaptable to changing requirements and situations
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Experience with statistical analysis of manufacturing process capability
•    Familiarity with Manufacturing Capability Readiness Level assessment and development process
•    Collaborative skills, including coaching/mentoring
