Job Summary

Accountable for maintaining accurate financial records and maintaining an effective and auditable set of internal controls for the Polymer Seals and UK Composites transformation project.  Provides accurate financial information and interpretation of, as well as generating robust project forecasts.  Provides analysis for project stakeholders and maintain the business case.  This role is hands-on and requires modelling as well as financial control, governance, reporting and review and challenge of the project financials.

Core Responsibilities

  • Take ownership for updating and maintaining the project business case – to be the subject matter expert and the one source of the truth
  • Track progress towards achievement of agreed financial and other performance targets, identifying key issues, risks and opportunities and initiating appropriate actions as required  
  • Track progress of the project vs the expected timeline, identify and highlight financial implications of delays or moving ahead of schedule
  • Ensure cashflow is tracked and monitored and flag/identify mitigating actions to ensure it is in line with proposed timeline
  • Track project heads, costs per head, phasing of recruitment and understand treatment of costs (eg exceptionals/UOP)
  • Monitor and review capital commitments, implement detailed tracking of spend (and timing differences between commitment and cashflow)
  • Variance reporting on a weekly and monthly basis for different stakeholders
  • Exceptional costs – justify and submit approval requests, act as gate keeper to review and ensure only appropriate costs are taken to exceptionals
  • Implement governance structure to ensure controls and review process is in place for costs incurred as part of the project
  • Support project lead in decision support for both detailed operation decisions as well as high level Plc (Invest Co) approvals
  • Support wider Polymer Seals & UK Comps finance team with aspects of Transformation project, such as SAP requirements
  • Maintains awareness of opportunities and risks and raises these to the project lead and PG Director Finance
  • Ensure that project accounting complies with Group financial policies and procedures and adhere to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)   
  • Monitors authority levels for capex and other spend 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Member of professional Accountant bodies ACA/CIMA/ACCA is mandatory
  • Proven track record of implementing and maintaining a highly effective internal control environment
  • Proven track record of transforming process and implementing reporting is essential
  • Experience working in a fast paced busy environment
  • Experience working in a manufacturing business essential
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, decision-making, planning, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and negotiating skills
  • Exceptional Excel skills required
