The Procurement Director will lead all procurement activities across the Polymers & UK Composites product group and will be responsible for a small Procurement team across multiple sites.  The role is responsible for ensuring that the product group has a very clear strategy for the procurement of goods and services. Also, to provide overall leadership and management to the department members in the achievement of defined targets taking into account budgets, stock requirements and skills required. A key element of this role will require the Procurement Director, to explore and develop the supplier base, ensuring that all activities and responsibilities reflect company policy and business objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive the teams to deliver, the organisation's goals, budget and improvement aspirations.
  • Design, implement and manage procurement strategy for direct/indirect spend.
  • Drive reduced costs and improved performance from the supply chain.
  • Contract management and negotiation.
  • Implement/maintain a KPI suite to track and address performance issues with suppliers. Drive improvements and track advances.
  • Lead, and contribute to cross-functional process improvement and change projects.
  • Supplier selection, negotiation and management.
  • Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Assessment of demand and input into the business S&OP process.
  • Identify critical materials and services to support company strategy and develop contingency plans.
  • Develop a diverse and globally competitive supply base.
  • Take ownership for the introduction of new product.
  • Ensure appropriate handover of product from strategic procurement into operational procurement.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience in Polymer Seals is highly desirable.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
  • Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships.
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Able to visualise and plan objectives and goals strategically.
  • Supervisory skills, including delegation, training and evaluating performance.
  • Team building skills.
  • Outstanding decision making and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans to grow the business.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers.
