Summary
An opportunity has arisen to join our organisation as an Accountant. We are seeking an individual who possesses diverse experience in both analysis and accounting and who can flex where needed. We rely on MS Excel extensively in our processes and need someone with advanced Excel knowledge. Experience in financial forecast modelling with Excel is highly valued for this role.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyse Meggitt's financial statements, prepare reports and make recommendations to management.
- Ensure financial business processes are in compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Generate, forecast and analyse trends in sales, finance and other areas of business to assist in financial planning.
- Participate in the monthly close process by generating various journal entries, preparing required reconciliations, and analytically reviewing specific general ledger accounts for accuracy and proper valuation.
- Perform annual internal audits, identifying inadequate, inefficient, or ineffective internal controls and recommends improvements.
- Confirm that book closings are accomplished within an acceptable time schedule.
- Prepare monthly forecast and bridge analysis for the P&L.
- Analyse reports and/or corrects multiplicity accounting fluctuations to ensure proper decision making.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

- Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation is essential to be successful in the role.
- 5-7 Years of relevant experience is required.
- Thorough understanding and experience in financial accounting and control processes, while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles.
- Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise with changing situations.
- Strong analytical and independent problem solving skills to evaluate financial results.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
