Job Designation

The Sr. Program Manager directs the overall activities associated with total customer satisfaction and satisfactory financial performance for the development, production, and/or support phases of assigned programs. Includes successful management of scope, cost/resources, schedule, subcontract management, and performance management of various assigned programs(s) and project(s).

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall performance on new product introduction (development) programs, assuring that cost, scope and schedule are met and resources necessary to achieve these are appropriately identified and communicated.
  • Provide monthly program/project updates (Program Status Report – Green/Yellow/Red) of current situation relating to contractual milestones and problem/high risk areas (e.g. technical, cost and schedule). Develops and implements corrective action(s) and recovery plan(s) as required.
  • Maintains a risk and opportunity management system where risks, issues and opportunities are identified, prioritized with plans and strategies defined and actioned.
  • Manage organization and leadership of team(s) in a matrix environment
  • Primary company representative and prime customer contact for all assigned programs. Manages the customer relationship, maintaining customer satisfaction, yet assuring that scope is managed appropriately and contract changes are secured where appropriate. All customer questions or problems concerning assigned programs are resolved by the incumbent or directed to the proper functional area and managed for resolution.
  • Supports marketing new business activities by providing the program management section of proposals.  After contract award, coordinates and works with marketing to develop plans and set strategy for achieving follow-on business.
  • Participates in the resolution of technical and commercial in-service issues, especially any issues requiring Customer Interaction and relationship.
  • Participates as a member of the site leadership council
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree required, preferably in Engineering or other technical field; post-graduate education (MBA) desirable
Years’ Experience: 10+ years of program management experience, preferably in aerospace or defense industry
Skills:

  • PMP (Program Management Professional) certification is highly desirable   
  • The position is both administrative and technical in nature. The incumbent must possess a strong technical background to understand and evaluate the technical specifications, requirements and capabilities associated with the program.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple activities and projects
  • Effective motivator and communicator
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Project and SAP
  • 10% travel
