Job Designation

The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates the daily activities, sets priorities and supervises the Maintenance Team.  The Maintenance Supervisor also maintains and repairs manufacturing related equipment throughout the facility in accordance with standard procedures, internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Performs complex skilled work and ensures the effective preservation of manufacturing related equipment through ongoing inspections and maintenance.

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Leads and directs the Manufacturing and Operations team to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching the team objectives.
•    Applies expertise in the repair and maintenance, service and repairs of a complex nature on equipment or systems.   Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains existing mechanical systems and associated equipment including air
     compressors, air dryers, dehumidifiers, cooling towers, etc.   Follows detailed operational instructions, procedures and blueprints while conducting maintenance activities
•    Determines preventative maintenance requirements for new equipment and trains equipment operators to perform routine maintenance 
•    Maintains necessary records/documents of maintenance work performed.
•    Ensures general safety, compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and company procedures.
•    Ensures staff are in compliance with safety regulations; including proper use of tools, equipment and hazardous materials.
•    Uses good judgment and negotiating skills when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations.
•    Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs.
•    Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

Job Specifications

Education: 

A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Certifications:

Technical certificates in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or the equivalent experience in related field.

Years Experience:

5 - 7 years of relevant experience.

Skills:

Solid knowledge in facilities maintenance management and a successful track record with leading employees.

Expertise in manufacturing equipment maintenance/repair.

Proficient in recognizing and solving complex problems from established operating procedures and/or scientific methods.

Experience in operating forklifts and other powered equipment.

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements
Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 75% hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 25% of the time.
