Job Designation

The Health, Safety & Env Spec 3 provides expertise in the development, implementation and management of effective Safety, Health and Environment programs/systems. Routinely analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action. 

Job Core Responsibilities

•    Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining Health, Safety and Environmental programs/procedures
•    Performs audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards
•    Knowledgeable of behavioral based programs and lead implantation
•    Awareness of all applicable registrations, permits and licenses are in place and current; disposes of hazardous materials per regulations
•    Able to work independently or assist with ergonomic teams to assess ergonomic problems in a manufacturing environment, present recommendation for correction of cumulative trauma disorders, and install recommendations
•    Capable of leading safety committees/champions, able to analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action, while empowering members to achieve departmental safety goals and objectives
•    Participates in developing and implementing training programs for employees
•    Gathers data for the purpose of identifying, reducing, or eliminating sources of pollutants and/or hazards that affect the work environment and health of the employees
•    Other responsibilities as assigned
•    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
•    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
•    Leads Safety FEMA to determine root cause determination

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety and Health preferred (or related field) or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years’ Experience: 5+ years Health and Safety experience preferred
Skills:
•    Knowledge of industry Health, Safety and Environment regulations/standards (OSHA Recordkeeping (300 Log), Title V, Stormwater, Wastewater, and Hazardous waste) preferred
•    Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets and hazardous waste disposal procedures
•    Experienced in problem solving skills for process improvements
•    Strong presentation skills
•    Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
•    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to drive tasks to completion
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
•    Able to read drawings preferred
•    Contractor Safety knowledge preferred
•    Industrial Monitoring knowledge preferred
