Job Designation

Oversees and participates in matters relating to the administration of activities for the Quality Department in generating and submitting FAI Reports for the customer, specifically, determining and maintaining schedules to be met, collection of data, generating documents, entering data per customer requirements, maintaining databases, reviewing documents for Accuracy and thoroughness, scanning and sending documents, storing documents electronically, filing hard copy documents, coordination of third party inspection, and any related activities necessary to consistently achieve objectives. Perform Last Article inspection to provide objective evidence that all engineering design and specification requirements are met.  

Job Core Responsibilities
  • First Article Inspector, performs FAI report per AS9102 standard
  • Maintain FAI Approval Database, FAI Report requirements based on due dates or other priorities as directed
  • Regularly verify accuracy of request priorities given by Customer Service and Program Managers, amending the log as required
  • Regularly communicate priorities and changes to the Quality Department and verify progress of the Quality Department in generating required documents and attachments
  • Interface with Quality Engineers ensuring timely processing and collection of documents and resolution to any issues
  • Collect and review all documents for accuracy and thoroughness, generating any that are needed
  • Compile information for FAI reports and prepare for submittal per customer instructions and any website entry of measurement and attribute data
  • Third Party Inspectors participation for approval of Criteria Part FAI Reports prior to submittal
  • Submit FAI Reports and monitor results, notifying requestors, document control and updating the FAI Approval Database accordingly
  • Delegated Customer Representative (DSQR) for Inspection activities
  • Delegated FAA Inspection (DMIR)
  • Perform additional Quality Department related tasks as required (Receiving Inspection, Final Inspection, and MRB)
  • Fosters professional growth and development of inspectors through personal example and appropriate training
Job Specifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, college and/or technical trade school or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations 

Certification: ASME Y14.5 GD&T certificate preferred

Years Experience: Minimum of 7 year of experience

Skills:

  • Full understanding of Aerospace Manufacturing practices, policies, procedures, regulations as these relate to quality specifications and standards (e.g. AS9100 and AS9102)
  • Knowledge of the AS9102 forms
  • ASME Y 14.5 GD&T
  • CMM Operations
  • Ability to read and understand blue print requirements
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information and prepare reports
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong prioritization skills

Environment & Physical Requirements

 

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements
Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
